My old Cool Edit Pro2 had a very helpful feature. In recording a narration track I would keep the waveform moving and recording even though there would be numerous quiet, virtually silent periods of anywhere from perhaps 5 to 30 seconds. Afterwards I could Select the entire waveform, specify in a box, say 3 seconds, hit enter (I think) and all the quiet spots were reduced to 3 seconds while the narration remained intact.
Can this be done with Cool Edit Pro’s eventual successor, Adobe Audition CS6? All I can come up with is its Help File section on Shortening which I have not been able to do the job.
I have tried Effects>Diagnostics>Delete Silence (Process)>Settings +
Find Levels and Shortening Silence. This brings about no change whatever in the highlighted waveform. What’s the activating step? (Have I missed any steps?) This feature seems to deal only in milliseconds and may not be what I seek.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
