Remove or Soften background rain

Hi. I tried to Google this question but for some reason most answers were dated pre-2010 for some reason. Is there a way in audition to do this? It's not SUPER intense, almost sounds like white noise in the background, but I'd like to be able to remove it or at least pull it back and then add some rain to the parts of my scene where the rain had not gotten so strong.
