Audition CS6, Win 7 Ultimate x64, Z820, Soundblaster Recon3D PCIe soundcard, Altec Lansing 5.1 speaker system.
I'm automating a surround panning angle on a stereo track, and when I reach +90, the keyframes jump from the top of the track envelope display to the bottom, and vice versa, as shown in the following image, and as indicated by the white arrows.
When I play this back, at each of the points where the keyframes jump (i.e., at the arrows), I hear an artifact in the sound (in my case it always seems to be in the LS channel). I've repeated this over and over, and in some cases upon playback, I can see the panner wedge actually jump from one side of the panner to the other instantaneously when the artifact is heard. In other cases, where I cross that +90 boundary multiple times in a row (i.e., go back and forth across it), I can hear an unnatural ping-pong effect in my surround sound field. In all other places, the movement of the sound is smooth. This only seems to occur at the jumps from top to bottom, and vice versa. It's almost like Audition is not sure where to play the sound and it (sometimes) switches to the wrong side of the field. Oh, and another thing, this is not always consistent. It might happen one time, but not the next playback at a particular spot in the sound.
Has anybody experienced this, and is there a way to avoid it (other than the obvious solution of "don't do that")? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Shane
