Is there ever a reason to use the Mixer in Audition?

I'm not sure if this is the right time to be asking this question as it may never get answered.... lost in the flurry of posts surrounding CC 2015 .  But here goes:

I've been getting a lot more audio work lately, mostly editing podcasts.  I'll do the cutting in Premiere, then export to Audition for the finals.  With all the constant fading in-and-out of music, I thought I'd give the Mixer a try.  Seemed like it might be faster using the faders than my usual planting of individual keyframes then "rubberbanding" the changes.

Instead I found out that the Mixer leaves hundreds of keyframes in its path (I changed that in the preferences and made it a lot less, but there's still bunches of them).  When I mix on the fly, there's always little tweaks I want to make, and making tweaks is difficult because you're not just dealing with one or two keyframes, but often dozens.   As a result I end up spending WAY more time by using the mixer than I ever would just keyframing the clips and adjusting them manually.

Curious if anyone out there has ever found a use for the mixer/faders?  If so, what's your workflow?  How did you make it efficient?  Thanks for any insight.
