Adobe Audition CS6 not passing on sampling rate to DAC

My DAC is a Lynx Hilo with an ASIO driver. It displays the sample rate of whatever's being played through it. My problem is, whenever I use it with Adobe Audition CS6, the sample rate on the Hilo will not change to match the sample rate of the music being played in Audition.

In more detail, the setup is a powerful Windows 10 desktop PC loaded with Adobe Audition CS6 and a load of music files. This is connected by USB cable to the Lynx Hilo DAC. The Lynx driver is ASIO and everything is set up for ASIO playback.

Let's say you switch on the Hilo and it's displaying its default sample rate of 44.1 kHz. If you then launch Adobe Audition, you can play any music file you like with any sample rate you like but they will all display 44.1 kHz on the Hilo. It simply will not change, whatever sample rate you throw at it.

But if you then close down Audition and instead launch JRiver Media Center and start playing the same music files through the same ASIO driver to the same Lynx Hilo, the Hilo immediately and accurately changes its sample rate to match any file you throw at it.

As a final test, let's say the last file you play through JRiver has a sample rate of 192 kHz. So that sample rate is still showing on the Hilo when you close JRiver down. If you now launch Audition, every file you play will now be rendered on the Hilo at 192 kHz regardless of the actual sample rate of the file itself. It simply will not change as long as you remain inside Adobe Audition.

I'd be tempted to say it was a fault with the Hilo or the driver but the flaw in that argument is that both work perfectly with JRiver. So why not with Audition?

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

I've opened a thread on the Lynx support forum too because I'm not sure where the problem lies.

Edit: I forgot to say, I've tried this on another Windows 10 PC with exactly the same result. I've also swapped cables, tried different USB sockets, reinstalled Audition, reinstalled the ASIO driver, reinstalled the Hilo firmware, reinstalled the USB controllers  - you name it, I've checked it.
