In Audition CS5.5 with Win 7, 64 bit, the metadata is lost or not visable when I re-open the audio file, or it never actually was saved, though I did select that checkbox. Since, as I learned in a Google or Chrome support forum, the artist info seems now to be required for Chrome to allow playback of online mp3's - and solving that issue is why I am adding the metadata to some old files - the metadata APPEARS to have been saved with the file I replaced online: that file subsequently plays in Chrome. I had tried many other unsuccessful solutions. Believe me, I've been searching for a solution to the Chrome playback issue for months(!) so I was elated to have it work. Now I need to repeat the same metadata in several other mp3’s, but I cannot access it in the first file -- fields are empty upon re-opening the file -- nor can I figure how to save it as a template that is later accessible.
By the way, my Chrome is current, plugins are up-to-date, and Adobe updates my Audition, but when I inquired of an Adobe support group regarding the issue with Chrome, I was told to get a newer browser. In Adobe’s defense, Google did not make a big announcement that we had to have the creator name embedded in the mp3’s as of a particular date: they just simply no longer played in Chrome one day.
Again, when I re-open the same mp3 file in Audition, the metadata is not visable, i.e. fields are blank. In case it is relevant, when I re-enter data the Metadata Date field auto-updates to today, but the field for Modification Date remains stuck on the creation date of a couple years ago, when I created the audio file. Do I need to "edit" the audio and re-save the file with the new metadata to get those two date fields to match and thereby fix the problem? I appreciate any help you can offer.
