I regularly open hundreds of small WAV files in Audition cs6, and inspect each one in the spectrogram window by moving down the list in the Files Window (down arrow, Enter). Some files contain an item of interest, some don't. I manually score for each as I go against a list of the filenames in Excel (list copied from Windows Explorer), which makes the process too long. I would like a faster way to end up with a list of files that contain the item of interest. I thought about closing each reject file as I go with 'crtl w', but after a file closes, Audition takes me back to the start of the file list in the File Window, so I lose my place. I thought about marking either reject/accept files somehow, eg adding a CD track marker (one button push, shift-m), which then marks the filename with an asterisk, meaning it has unsaved changes. But there is no way to select files with unsaved changes somehow, eg to the Batch Window or the CD Editor Window. A shame because if I save a CD Layout with multiple files inside, I can open the .CDLX file in Excel and have a list of paths and filenames after Excel converts the XML to columns. I would like to use Audition somehow because the alternatives (eg Audacity, seewave in R) take too long to open each file and do not provide as nice a spectrographic view. As you can see, I have tried to think laterally about solving this little problem. Thanks in advance.
