Hi everyone.
This will be for those who have the most critical ear.
I also use wavepad and I started suspecting that the recordings on wavepad are a little better so I conducted an experiement.
I ran wavepad and Audition at the same time and recorded silmentaniously. So, it's 100% the same.
No effects, just garbage in garbage out (as we say in the software programming world)
I then put them together and I am indeed noticing the wavepad captures more of the sound of my piano.
1st half is wavepad, 2nd half is audition.

For those who have a very good ear, maybe i'm not crazy? can you tell the difference? and if so, can you explain the difference?
and if so, why would there be a difference in the first place?
Slightly different question:
When I play the piano to test microphone placement, I wear in the ear headphone + over the ear headphones that are not plugged in. This helps elimiate 95% of the piano sound. I plug the headphone directly to my preamp (fireface 800)
The sound I'm getting directly from the preamp while i am playing is fantastic, SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE PIANO!
When I record, and play it back same through the same headphones, something is missing. Like not all the sound got captured. Wavepad captures better but I would say it's is 30% better sound when I'm playing and listening with the headphones live as I am playing.
There are some soft passages that my headphone setup blocks 100% of the piano sound, and still the sound is fantastic. But when I record and play it back through the same headphones, it's like I lost something. Almost like going from 3D to 2D. Hard to explain. I lost dimention.
Sorry for this crazy topic.
Thank you all
