Hi, just as the title suggests I would like to know how to extract vocals from a song so I can then use it as an acapella using Audition CS5?
Also whilst I'm here, again using audition CS5, how can I determine the bpm of whatever sound file I have open, and furthermore how can I then match the bpm from another sound file to match the bpm of the track I'm working on?

I was doing a great podcast recording this afternoon, and when I went to look at Audition, I noticed that it had stopped at 15 mins. I was at about an hour at that point.
That said, I noticed that the temp file is about 935MB, which seems a decent size, and probably has all my audio.
Question is, how do I recover this on a Mac? Any thoughts?
I'm getting two error messages when attempting to export multitrack mixdown: audition has reached the limit of audio data it can use. Please close some files to continue. Behind this message is the other message: Unable to write data to the temporary file system. I deleleted a bunch of sesx files, but this keeps happening.
After a 46 minute session recording in 44.1K, 16-bit, stereo running CS6 on Windows 7, my attempt to save the wav file resulted in a crash with Close Program or Look on Internet for Solution.
Attempts to restart the program and use recovery data worked initially, but subsequent save attempts resulted in the same crash.
Attempts to copy the wav file also resulted in a crash.
Shutdown and restart of the system yielded the same results, in fact worsening on some attempts to recover, where the data file reported 2 errors, eventually resulting in a complete freeze of CS6 when attempting the recovery.
At some point, the recovery option no longer was displayed -- may have been my fault, but there is a large 2+ GB file under c:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe\Audition\5.0 named Audition5Temp9b878c42-d2e1-46cf-b433-9cebd47d6640 with no extension.
I tried importing this as raw data, 44.1K, 2 channel, 16-bit PCM, Default Byte order, but that resulted in what appeared to be a 3-hour file that was very high amplitude noise.
I'm hoping for a means of recovering this data file. In the years I used CS5.5, I never had a problem like this and recovery always worked in those rare instances when it was needed.
This is my second extended session with CS6, and this crash has left me wondering why I bothered to upgrade.
Is there any hope at all here of recovering this session from the Audition5Temp file, or is it a total loss.

I have had this issue forever and have never found a workaround. In Final Cut Pro 7 you can use the JKL keys to toggle play forward, pause, and reverse. If you hit it several times it increases or decreases the speed. What I really enjoyed (probably the only thing in FCP 7 that I did like) was when you would fast forward at 2 or 4x speed the pitch of your file would not change. You would get some stuttering at higher speeds, but honestly I'm ok with that. In Audition and Premiere Pro if you fast forward the pitch increases. Gives you that chipmunk effect. Is there any setting, keypress, or any workaround that would enable me to fast forward while retaining pitch?
I edit voices and I listen for key words or phrases said by specific people so when the pitch changes it can difficult to actually find the correct spot. Any help would be much appreciated.
For the past while the noise reduction feature in Audition stopped working. The adaptive one still works and its nearly as good but I OFTEN need to be able to sample the noise and filter it out and it simply does nothing now. You cant hear any difference when you play it and if you apply it anyway the file is unchanged. Need help urgently.

I recently upgraded to Adobe Audition CC. When applying effects to my voice work (four effects in all), everything works fine. However, when I apply all of my effects from "Favorites" collectively, the first several seconds of my sound file is deleted. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Here's my challenge. When I process the files, I find the breath sounds suddenly becoming far more of an issue than they were in the master recording. I guess anything I do to levels equally boosts the breath sounds. I've tried two different ways of processing:
In both cases, it seem the breath sounds are boosted disproportionately to the voice. I would love to get suggestions on simple ways to process spoken word. I'm creating some podcast using Audition. I'm and experienced still photographer and have been using photoshop and Lightroom for years. Auditions backup procedures and file names have me baffled. Admittedly when I started this project I had no experience with Audition so my file naming was probably not the best. Fortunately I have saved all the original sessions but now i want to fine the latest versions of some of the files I have edited but the backup file structure is baffling. Help.
Choose a specific time audio cannot set a specific "fade effect". for example, I want to set a specific time of the selected audio is set to -20dB fade out effect (audio will not disappear), but I can not find this setting.
I would love to see full list of the new featuers & changes made in this version of Audition but I've not managed to find this info anywhere - does anyone have any ideas? I'm particularly interested to see if the "dynamic link" workflow between Premiere Pro and Audition has been enhanced.

I am running Windows 10 and have an M Audio Fast Rack Ultra hooked up for my input to computer. I am able to record a track and hear the input through my headphones plugged directly into the audio interface. I can play it back through computer speakers, but I can't seem to figure out how to have playback routed back through my headphones. I'm trying to overdub but I can't hear the original track to play along with. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a dj and my friends told me that i could easily match the volume of my tracks in adobe so they would be at this same volume ( level) while i am mixing and basicly it would make my life much easier... yes i am lazy dj. I do have some concerns. I have no idea which settings would be the best for matching multiple songs ? RMS, Loudness, Perceived Loudness ?? what decibels level And if i will lose dynamic range while using match loudness in adobe ? All my files are in aiff format legally bought from beatport. I am not familiar at all with Audition, but I needed to edit some clips for my premiere project, since they had a little bit of noise. So I applied the noise reduction of Adobe Audition, and it works great, except for the very begining of my clips. It take 2-3 secs to have an effect so I end up with the begining of my clips with noise, and then suddently the noise drop out.
How can I fix this ?

Like many here, I am a prodigal son returning to the fold (former cool edit user who went the logic route and is now coming back home after "seeing the light"). Just curious to know if there are people here who employ both Logic pro and Audition in their daily workflow and how exactly they do it. Is there a way to use Audition as a plugin in Logic? My ideal workflow would be one where I CREATE my music in Logic (MIDI and all), RECORD my vocals in Logic, EDIT the vocals in Audition (noise reduction, normalization, some FX), MIX in Logic and MASTER in Audition. Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated.
