Audio playback issue in Audition CC on Mac 10.9.1

I am taking the Adobe Audition training class on lynda.com. I have a Mac 10.9.1 with a dual monitor system and I have the class video playing on one monitor while I have audition open in the other and I am following along with the classes. The audio from both was working just fine the last two days through 6 and a half chapters of class videos. But today when I got evertything up and going, after a few minutes the audio on the lynda.com video starts distorting and getting lower and lower. Eventually, the audio will cut out entirely. The same happens on the Audition software. I can see the meters going, but there is no audio. If I shut off Audition, the audio immediately comes back to the video playing on lynda.com. I've tried a few different hardware setups/configurations based on other people who've had similar, but not exactly, the same problem. I could REALLY use some help here. Any thoughts, guys?

BTW, I did get an adobe flash update installed yesterday. Not sure if it's relevant or not. But i'm not sure where to go to revert to the previous version if that's the problem.

Can I match the quality of separate voice clips?

Background:

I'm creating a narrative collage of two seperate audiobooks. I'm slicing and dicing the books into clips, and then rearranging them into a new narrative. The audiobooks are read by the same person, thus the new narrative will seem seamless. The audio is in the public domain. You probably get this a lot: I'm an audio n00b. I've played around with the graphic equalizer, but I know I'm missing something.

Problem:

One of the audiobooks has excellent quality narration. The other has poor quality. I know it's probably impossible to get a perfect quality match, but I would like to get close. The narrative collage will not seem seamless if the other book sounds vastly different.

Good Voice Recording:https://librivox.org/the-diary-of-a-dead-officer-by-arthur-graeme-west /

Bad Voice Recording:https://librivox.org/after-london-or-wild-england-by-richard-jefferies /

Is there a combination of effects that will get the Bad Voice close the Good Voice?

Any help would be greatly apprecited. If you are kind enough to respond, expliain it like I'm a five year old, because in terms of audio editing, I am.

Secondary or duplicate video panel for vocal booth

Is there a way to duplicate the video monitor panel so both my v/o artist and myself can match their performance as they perform ADR?

I currently have a secondary monitor running in the booth, but so far haven't worked out a way for both parties to watch the same vision.

Is this possible in Audition?

The multi-band compressor no-longer works. The display does not update during playback, the check boxes and sliders appear to be locked. Is a fix coming?

How do I level the volume in a piece of music without creating white noise during silent/quiet parts

It's actually the original Star Wars trilogy soundtrack. The volume swings by 25 db or more, even during the same track. You can't listen to it without riding the volume knob. That's not hyperbole, you actually cannot hear parts of it if the loud parts are at a safe volume. It's not a bootleg copy or anything; I bought the CD's. Pathetic that they haven't already done what I'm trying to do, if you ask me.

Raising the volume of my sterio doesn't create white noise, so it seems like I should be able to duplicate the effect somehow, probably with some kind of dynamics processing. Classic Soft Knee, for example, has the white noise problem. When I used it in the talk radio business, it would also amplify the speaker's breaths. I've fiddled with it and tried to come up with my own settings without success. Maybe I need a different tool entirely?

I'm doing this for my son. He's 5 and loves Star Wars and loves listening to the music in the car wherever we go. Thank you for any help you can give!

I apply a Channel Mixer Preset to some of my audio files, and it involves about half a dozen keystrokes. Is it possible to move this preset somewhere so that I can click on it and it is applied in just one or two keystrokes?

Specify decibel range

In Audion CC, we can investigate frequency spectrum of one time instant in the Frequency Analysis panel.

Currently decibel range in the right hand side of the panel is displaying 0 to -300dB.

I want to set it 0 to -140dB for example.

Zoom in is tedious thing for me because it should be set whenever I open the Frequency Analysis panel.

I want to set it as a default value somewhere preference.

How can I do it?

Project .wavs disappeared?

Hello,

I'm experience a very weird issue I desperately need help with.

I recently recorded a 2 hour podcast with Adobe Audition - used multitrack, 7 tracks recorded.

I saved the multitrack immediately after recording. I even copied two of the files and moved them to another multitrack.

I was able to see the waveform, playback the show, no problems at all.

Fast forward to today. I opened a new multitrack to record a separate file. When trying to save that file it told me I had to restart the program as Adobe was unable to save the file to disk.

I made sure my previous podcast multitracks were once again saved and restarted the program. Now when I try to open the podcast multitrack recordings I get told all the files are missing and I must locate them. No matter where I look I cannot find them.

For some reason the missing files seemed to have saved to a random temp folder (User/Library/Prefrences/Adobe/5.0/) that is now missing. This has never occurred before - usually the files save to my podcast Audition folder without issue.

I have a hard time believing these files are completely gone off my Mac as they are quite large, saved and I was able to listen to them perfectly yesterday.

ANY HELP at all would be greatly appreciated.

How do I make a FFT filter fade over time?

I am trying to apply a FFT filter (underwater shallow) to an audio track, but I want it to gradually fade until we here the original non-filtered audio at the end. I've created a multitrack session, but Show Envelopes does not unclude the FFT filter. Surely there is a way to accomplish this? Please help!

Compatibility issues between CS5.5 & new macs?

Hello all. Does anyone know if there are compatibility issues between Audition CS5.5 and new macs? Just got a 2013 MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9) and haven't been able to install my copy of CS5..5, which I've been using on an older mac for years. I've tried both the original installation disc and a download.

Thanks!

How do I control where 'extracted audio files' are placed from Premiere?

From Premiere, when I want to 'Edit audio file in Audition,' it does not give me a choice where to place the extracted files, and is putting them in a place I don't want. I looked through the prefs in Audition as well as Premiere for such a setting and found none. I'd like to have them placed near the originals if possible.

I am trying to uninstall adobe audition 3.0 off of my computer and whenever I try to uninstall it, it says "The wizard was interrupetd before adobe audition 3.0 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again". I went back to the setup and tried to repair it but repairing did not help and I am still not able to get adobe audition 3.0 off of my computer. Does any know how I could remove it?

Lessening background noise when Amplifying a sound file (post noise reduction)

$

I have a video I have been tryng to clean up, that was filmed in an environment with some amount of background noise.

I managed to get the audio cleaned up to a leveI was happy with (but still retained a minimal amount of almost unoticable noise to keep the voise still sounding ok).

It sounds fine and perfectly loud in headphones but on some computer speakers even turned up to full volume you can barely hear it. (in the future I will try to film with a higher volume)

I attempted a few different methods to Amplify the sound slightly but this also increases the reminant of background noise.

  •      Along with the basic Amplify, and Normalise I have also tried using a Hard Limiter (I don't know if I was doing it right though as it also increased the Background noise)

Can someone provide any pointers to only amplify the Voice and not the background noise? or possibly even suggest a way I can clean up the reminant background noise without causing the voice to become hollow and Tinny? Obviously redoing the Noise removal process just makes the voice more Hollow.

In the future should I Amplify first and then run the noise removal?

I am using Audition CS6
