Hi,,
I have a query regarding how Audtion cc and Premiere Pro cc handle mono files.
I have recorded a mono dialogue track (it was definitely a mono recording), when I import it into the waveform editor in Audition, it becomes a stereo track with the same signal in both the left and right channels. The only way I can convert it to mono is by splitting the file into the left and right components.
However, when importing into premiere pro it becomes stereo again. At this point, I amend the file properties so that it is mono and 1 channel, then I replace the footage. This brings in a mono track with the left channel. As long as the sequence audio track is mono, the audio image is centred as expected when this bin item is added to the sequence.
Then, if I export the sequence to Audition, the audition is placed in stereo with the left channel populated, nothing in the right. The audio is centred and the panning works as though it is a mono track. Any idea why it displays as a stereo track?
Are there any global settings that can be amended?
This may seem a bit over the top, but when working with a mix of files this issues makes things confusing.
Thanks,
Keith
