fx and eq levels on files won't save!

here are the details.

i'm making a film trailer. more like a short, really. for learning purposes. in premiere pro 6. and i'm doing the audio for it in audition 6.

i pull in all of the foley wav files that i need. i chop them up and apply all of the fx that i need along with proper eq levels so that they sound logical in the environment and such.

how i have been doing this is, i drop the file in place after it's cropped and edited. it almost still never sounds right with the image, so i double click it in the track and it brings up the source file in a new editor window. i make the adjustments that i need and then i return to the session file and see how it sounds. i repeat this process with whatever wav file needs to be adjusted in the session (usually work with about 6 or so different tracks)

when i hit FILE then SAVE, it asks me if i want to save the changes i've made to all of these audio files that i've adjusted. i click YES TO ALL. i then smile contently.

later, when i reopen audition, and reopen the session itself, nearly all of the wav files in the session are back to their default settings. they sound terrible again and need everything applied all over again.

what on earth am i doing wrong? and why can i find nothing similar to this problem on the internet anywhere? i must be messing something really simple up, right?

i appreciate any help that anyone can give me! i'm pulling what little hair i have left out.
